Jude Law Shares Early Reaction To Brie Larson In Captain Marvel
With both Ant-Man and The Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War officially in the rear view, the time time has come to look forward to the final two films in Marvel's Phase Three. The next up at bat is Captain Marvel, which will introduce Carol Danvers to mainstream audiences for the first time in live-action. Played by Oscar winner Brie Larson, Captain Marvel has been teased as the most powerful hero in the MCU so far. While most of the film's contents are a complete mystery, we do know that actor Jude Law is in the cast, heavily rumored to be playing alien Mar-Vell. Law recently spoke to his co-star Brie Larson's performance in the blockbuster, saying:
Yes, it's been reported I'm playing Mar-Vell. I'm not going to confirm or deny that. It's been a very interesting experience. Brie Larson has approached it with incredible dedication and devotion. She really turned out a wonderful performance --- fun and feisty and smart. I think she's going to be absolutely magnificent.
While doing a delightful side step regarding his mysterious Captain Marvel role, Jude Law was able to doll out some serious praise for Brie Larson's characterization of the title character. Considering the massive pressure put on the Room actress to carry a new franchise, this is sure to be a relief.
Jude Law's comments to EW will no doubt get fans hyped, as there is very little known about the contents of Captain Marvel. The MCU is a place notorious for its secrets, as new information is released methodically in order to keep excitement for the behemoth franchise going. All we know is that Captain Marvel will be set in the 1990s, and will feature the return of a variety of characters-- including a two eyed Nick Fury and Agent Coulson.
Captain Marvel will be an origin story for Carol Danvers, set in the 1990s. Originally an Airforce pilot, Danvers is eventually granted massive powers after her DNA is fused with an alien race known as the Kree. With Earth in the middle of an intergalactic battle, Carol will have to become a bonafide hero fast, and likely change both the world and S.H.I.E.L.D. in the process.
Given the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel's introduction is more important than ever. The post-credits scene saw Nick Fury heralding her through some gadget, right before he and Maria Hill disappeared due to Thanos' finger snap of death. The last surviving Avengers and Guardians are going to need some help to hopefully reverse the galaxy's fate, and Captain Marvel and Ant-Man may be just what the doctor ordered.
