Solo: A Star Wars Storys Honest Trailer Makes Fun Of Han Solos Over-Explained History

Han Solo met a tragic demise in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the Star Wars franchise still wasn't done with the lovable smuggler on the big screen. Two and a half years later, Solo: A Star Wars Story wound the clock back to the time of the Empire's reign and gave us Han's origin story, with Alden Ehrenreich inheriting the role once occupied by Harrison Ford. While the final product did decently on the critical front, commercially Solo was a commercial bomb, becoming the first Star Wars movie to lose money. Now that Solo is available on home media, Hones Trailers has selected it as its latest target of ridicule, particularly teasing the movie for how many questions it answered about Han, some of which didn't necessarily need to be answered.

Going into Solo: A Star Wars Story, we knew that certain elements of Han Solo's past teased in the Original Trilogy were going to be shown, such as how he met Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, as well as how he obtained the Millennium Falcon. Sure enough, Solo delivered all that, but as this Honest Trailer notes, the movie feels like less of a character study and more of a "feature length adaptation of Han Solo's Wookieepedia page" that reveals the "fascinating" origins of his accessories, like his DL-44 blaster, the reason the Millennium Falcon has a forked appearance, his "signature" catchphrase ("I know) and his dice, which didn't even become a big deal until The Last Jedi. Solo even goes out of its way to explain how Han got his last name, which was a questionable decision. Alas, we never did learn how Han got his black vest; I guess that was being saved for Solo 2.

As this Honest Trailer notes, Solo: A Star Wars Story ended up being a mixed bag that "wasn't exactly great, but wasn't exactly terrible." In other words, forgettable. Among the things the movie has going against it is the supporting cast overshadowing the lead hero (who wants to be a pilot, in case that wasn't clear) and the dark lighting. Of course, it's no secret that Solo faced a tough journey due to original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller departing 75% of the way through principal photography, and Ron Howard taking their place. It also probably didn't help that Solo opened only five months after The Last Jedi come out, which the Disney brass seem to realize was a mistake. Ultimately, Solo certainly isn't the worst Star Wars product Lucasfilm has churned out, but due to a variety of factors, this story just didn't haul in the big bucks like its predecessors.

Could Jackass 4 Happen? Here's What Johnny Knoxville Says

Before YouTube was a thing and videos weren't as popular a commodity on the internet, if you were looking to watch guys play absurd pranks one one another and perform dangerous stunts, Jackass was your prime destination. Starting out as an MTV show, Jackass eventually spun out into a film series, with Jackass 3D, the last theatrical entry, coming out in 2010. Eight years later, Johnny Knoxville, co-creator and one of the main stars of the Jackass franchise, says it's possible that we could get Jackass 4 at some point, though if it did happen, it would need to feature new stars. As Knoxville put it:

It's possible, for sure. It's not like we're saying no. If we did do a new one, we'd have to bring in some new younger guys--- just to bring some fresh blood into it. But it's possible.

Since Jackass 3D's release, Johnny Knoxville has kept a foot in the world of dangerous and crazy stunts through 2013's Bad Grandpa and his most recent release, Action Point. But evidently he hasn't ruled out a return to the Jackass world, and as Action Point demonstrates, he's still game for putting himself through pain for the sake of comedy. That said, Knoxville makes a good point about bringing in fresh blood. It's been nearly two decades since the Jackass TV series premiered, and the surviving cast members are in their late 30s or 40s. Obviously they can still be involved, but to draw in new fans, it'd be worth adding some new stars, especially to pull off stunts that are easier to endure in your 20s.

Fortunately, Johnny Knoxville also mentioned during his interview with EW that he has plenty of ideas that could be used for Jackass 4, so it's not like lack of material is an issue. However, Knoxville also mentioned that nowadays he thinks more about how his dangerous antics would affect his friends and family, so even though he might be want to revisit the Jackass world, he also has to take care of himself.

We should also consider if Jackass 4 could experience the same kind of success as its predecessors after nearly a decade. Critically, the three Jackass movies rested comfortably in the 'mixed' area, but commercially, they were quite successful, with Jackass 3D taking in over $171 million worldwide off a $2 million budget. Action Point, on the other hand, has been met with a lot of negative reviews, and it's only made a little over $2 million domestically. Granted, Jackass has the brand recognition, but times have changed, so it's certainly possible audiences might not be as enamored with this sort of insanity as they once were in a theatrical setting.

How Queen Reacted To Performing At The Oscars

Queen frontman Adam Lambert, who has taken over vocal duties with the band in recent years as a fill-in for Freddie Mercury, said that he and Queen would be performing at the Oscars over the long weekend. However, now the rest of the band members have also confirmed the musical event with a fun posts to their fans.

First off, Queens own Brian May expressed excitement about the big event, confirming on Instagram:

Previously, Adam Lambert shared a video of Queen performances when he revealed the band would be there on the big awards night. Still, given Brian May and Roger Taylor have been big names associated with Bohemian Rhapsody in recent months, its good to hear from the horses mouths that everyone is pumped to perform.

And just to make it official, The Academy has also confirmed the band will perform during the big show. Take a look:

Bohemian Rhapsody has done well this awards season, particularly at events like the BAFTAS and The Golden Globes. Now, its also been nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, despite only middling reviews from the critics. It's been a real crowdpleaser and the voters during awards season largely have seemed to have changed their minds about how good the story of Queen really is on the big screen.

As for the 2019 Academy Awards, there's a lot of good stuff we already know is coming, particularly in regards to the music. Queen and Adam Lambert are playing, but there's also a lot of buzz surrounding a performance by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for A Star Is Born. Bradley Cooper has even previously revealed he's terrified at the prospect of singing "Shallow" in front of so many of his peers at the main event of the awards season. Plus, Bette Midler will be performing music from Mary Poppins Returns. She'll be singing the memorable original tune "The Place Where Lost Things Go" in place of Emily Blunt, who starred in the movie.

It should be a fun night for movies fans, although we'll have to wait and see if Bohemian Rhapsody is able to bring home the fairest prize of them all.
