Exclusive: MoviePass Is Adding A Family Plan

So far, MoviePass has been a revolutionary innovation aimed solely on getting individuals to attend more movie screenings in a local multiplex than they have in the past. By making movie tickets affordable -- thanks to a low monthly subscription fee -- MoviePass encourages frequent attendance, which assists in such areas as concession sales, theater awareness and, hopefully, positive word-of-mouth for blockbusters (like Deadpool 2 or Solo: A Star Wars Story) and indies (like American Animals). In an effort to keep revolutionizing its service, and address a customer service need, MoviePass confirms to CinemaBlend that it will introduce a Family Plan that will enable families of four (or fewer) to purchase all of their tickets at once, all under one account, to make the process more convenient than it is now.

In an exclusive interview with CinemaBlend, Helios and Matheson Analytics CEO Ted Farnsworth, which is the parent company of MoviePass, explained:

We've been working on that one for awhile. So that's a family plan, and it's also the 'bring-a-friend' plan. ... It would be the same [cost] that it is right now. We might do something down the road to get more of a discount for the family plan. ... But it's all the convenience of going with your family. You've got it all in one app, one card, one everything.

It's an obstacle you don't consider in the modern age of going to the movie theater. Because we now, as an audience, have the ability to choose our own seats, what happens when you decide to go to the theaters in a large group? If everybody uses a different app to purchase their own tickets, how do you figure out who sits where? Or, if you are an individual and you subscribe to an unlimited-screenings program, what do you do when your whole family wants to see Incredibles 2 or Solo: A Star Wars Story?

MoviePass believes that a Family Plan, or the Bring-A-Friend option that they plan to unveil, will streamline the process for members who have subscriptions so that they can keep the order on one card, and allow up to four family members to choose their seats together at the time of order.

Ted Farnsworth explained that, for now, the Family Plan will still require each member to have an individual MoviePass subscription, at the current rate of $9.95 a month. And the limitations would still be in effect: One new movie, once a day, every day. But this new Family Plan would allow a group to bundle the tickets together in their order, in an effort to boost convenience. And in time, a discount rate might be applied to the Family Plan (but not right away).

MoviePass representatives tell CinemaBlend that the company expects to unveil the Family Plan and Bring-A-Friend programs within the month, so if you think that these bundle opportunities will make MoviePass an easier system for your family to use, be on the lookout for news of the program's launch. Netflix Rom-Com Star Noah Centineo May Play He-Man, And Fans Have Strong Feelings

The upcoming Masters of the Universe film may enlist Noah Centineo to play He-Man in the planned Sony and Mattel Films movie. The heartthrob has already charmed Netflix users everywhere with his kind eyes and infectious smile, but what happens when he wields the Power Sword?

Noah Centineo is in talks to portray Prince Adam in an upcoming adaptation of the 80s toy icon previously played by Dolph Lundgren, per The Wrap. The character is known for his insanely-ripped physique and blond bob, and he's heir to the throne of Eternia. He-Man is being adapted for the big screen by directors Aaron and Adam Nee, and screenwriters of Iron Man Matt Holloway and Art Marcum.

The project has seen multiple script drafts and directors, and Twilights Kellan Lutz was also previously set to play He-Man at one point in time. The 22-year-old breakout To All The Boys Ive Loved Before actor may now lead the project about the heir to the throne of planet Eternia who often fights off the evil wizard Skeletor and teams up with allies Teela, Man-at-Arms, Orko, and The Sorceress.

Since Noah Centineo doesnt have the typical He-Man look, fans of the character have taken to Twitter to express their concerns for the Masters of the Universe choice. Check it out:

Looks like Noah Centineo is going to have to hit it pretty hard at the gym if hes going to win the hearts of these fans, who have expressed the importance that He-Man be jacked in the upcoming adaptation of the character. It is true He-Man is largely known for his muscular body, and if Centineo approaches the character with his current look, he will not come off as believable to fans. Since hes taking on the role, one would expect hell commit to looking the part and there certainly could be a massive transformation for the actor on the way.

Not all the online chatter is negative toward the recent casting news. @GeekVibesNation took to the platform to make a valid point about how while the casting of iconic roles in the past have initially angered fans, it doesnt alway turn out as bad as they think it well. Take a look:

Good point! While many may have written off Michael Keaton as Batman and Heath Ledger as Joker, theyve gone on to become iconic portrayals of the comic book roles. Actors are given parts for a reason, and Noah Centineo no doubt went through a cutthroat process before being named a frontrunner for the role. We also have no idea about the direction and vision the studios have for the toy line as of yet.

Mattel Films is following in the footsteps of Hasbro and working on numerous film projects based on their popular toys, such as a Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie. How Much Of The Aquaman Movie Actually Takes Place Underwater

For a hero named Aquaman, Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry didn't spend a ton of time in the water in Justice League. Sure, there was that one battle against Ciaran Hinds' Steppenwolf protecting the Motherbox, but the rest of the took place on the surface (including the climactic finale). As you might have guessed, however, that won't be the case for James Wan's upcoming Aquaman movie, which will see sixty-six percent of the action take place below the waves. This information comes to us from production designer Bill Brzeski, who told us,

Two-thirds of this movie takes place underwater. It's difficult, too, because it's all supposedly under water, so people are swimming around. You would never have a room like this underwater. People float around, they swim... The geometry or the architecture is a three-dimensional space underwater, so doors are on the top, on the bottom. It's like being in a space station, if you see any of those movies. People upside down. They don't care. They're underwater. So we have to deal with all that to tell the story and make it kind of fun.

That quote comes from an interview conducted last year on the set of Aquaman in Melbourne, Australia, which I had the opportunity to visit along with a small group of other journalists. While in the production art room, surrounded by conceptual illustrations detailing most of the movie, Bill Brzeski set up the plot the film, and broke down a lot of how the underwater world works. This included revealing not only how much of the movie takes place in Atlantis and the other kingdoms, but also how that fact was immensely influential on his design work.

When you think about it, the only reason doors are almost exclusively vertical and that we need stairs is because of gravity. If that element were taken out of the equation, what would society look like? That was basically the task put in the hands of James Wan and his department heads, and it presented a serious challenge. That being said, it also gave them opportunity to execute some fantastic and creative ideas, such as those illustrated by Bill Brzeski above in the field of architecture.

As for the percentage of the movie that takes place underwater, it's an answer fans definitely want to hear. There is no question that Arthur Curry has important connections to the surface world, as his father is human and he was raised as a human child -- but when you're making an Aquaman movie, most of that story needs to take place in areas filled with H2O. Based on what I gathered on set, it doesn't sound like there was all that much real water actually used, with actors instead put on wires in chroma key environments, but that's really a necessity because constantly using tanks would be impractical.
