Why Don Cheadle Is Fine Not Knowing What Happens In Infinity War

A lot of precautions are taken on the set of big movies to make sure things don't leak too early. However, frequently this means the actors aren't even given the whole story of the movie they're in to be sure they don't accidentally talk. While this certainly has the potential to make things difficult for an actor trying to give a performance with only partial information, Don Cheadle told our own Sean O'Connell on the set of Avengers: Infinity War that he doesn't mind it so much. While it can make things interesting on the set, it has the added benefit of making the movie watching experience just as exciting for him as it is for the rest of us. According to Cheadle...

It's very interesting on set, obviously, when you don't know the entirety of everything and things are changing [in] real time. It keeps you on your toes, that's for sure. But it's ultimately exciting and it's as fun for us sometimes discovering it as it is for the audience. 'Cause we're like,'Oh we had no idea how that was gonna turn.'

Script pages are often guarded very closely on movie sets like Avengers: Infinity War. Actors are often only given the pages they absolutely need, meaning they have no idea what's happening in parts of the movie they're not in. In addition, with the growing use of CGI, actors are often performing against nothing, and they won't get a chance to see the thing they were in a life and death struggle with until the premiere after all the effects are done.

There's nothing quite like watching a movie for the first time when you have no idea what is going to happen. It's why so many people work so hard to avoid spoilers of a movie or TV show they really want to see. Being an actor can be the ultimate spoiler because you know all the answers but you never actually had the pleasure of sitting down and watching the final product.

The other reason that Don Cheadle likely doesn't know all the answers regarding Avengers: Infinity War is that the movie is just so big. Based on what we've seen in the trailers, a lot of the action is broken up into three different places, New York, Wakanda, and outer space. We only ever see War Machine in Wakanda, so it's not clear if the character will even appear anyplace else. Cheadle probably doesn't know what happens in those other parts of the movie, and even if he does, since he wasn't there, his first chance to actually see any of it will still be when the movie premieres next month.

Don Cheadle will be among the excited fans looking forward to seeing Avengers: Infinity War when it arrives April 27.

It's a good time to be a horror fan. While the genre has had its ups and downs throughout the year, it's currently in the midst of a renaissance. Tons of new and exciting movies are being produced, with last year's Get Out even garnering a handful of Oscar nominations. Many of the genre's best recent additions come from Blumhouse Productions, and now the acclaimed studio is putting its focus on the OG slasher franchise: Halloween. A new sequel is coming this October, starring Jamie Lee Curtis as scream queen Laurie Strode. Curtis just revealed a closer look at her signature character, 40 years after surviving the attack by Michael Meyers. Check it out.

Laurie Strode is back, and she's rocking basically the same haircut from the first film. Let's break down what we're being shown, and all the possibilities for the 11th Halloween movie.Rather than rocking Jamie Lee Curtis' signature short hair, Laurie Strode will have far longer locks in the new Halloween. Picking up 40 years after the original attack, it appears that Laurie Strode looks almost exactly the same as she did in John Carpenter's signature slasher. Indeed, the promo images that came with the announcement of Curtis' return to the franchise featured Laurie's very same costume from the first film's conclusion. Some of these images even include the slash wound from when Michael very nearly killed the babysitter. Solo's Millennium Falcon Twist Connects To The Original Star Wars Trilogy

The following contains a spoiler for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Solo: A Star Wars Story gave us a lot of brand new information about some our favorite characters in the franchise, but one of the most intriguing new details was about our favorite spacecraft. The new movie reveals that Lando's co-pilot, L3-37, actually has her databanks dumped into the Millennium Falcon, making her part of the ship forever. It may seem like an odd way to go, considering this is never referenced anywhere else in the Star Wars franchise, except, it turns out maybe it is, as a line from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back now has a very different meaning based on this knowledge.

The Millennium Falcon is suffering from all sorts of technical problems all throughout The Empire Strikes Back. Han Solo has C-3PO interface with the ship in an attempt to discover what is wrong with the hyperdrive so that they can use it to escape their Imperial pursuers. This interfacing leads to the line above, as the droid tells Han that the Falcon's dialect is a little strange. As the Star Wars Twitter account points out, that peculiar dialect is apparently due to the remnants of L3-37 inside the ship.

Certainly, no other droid that we have met in a Star Wars movies is quite like L3-37. She's more self-aware than any other droid we know and is vocal about the rights of all droids. While C-3PO is a protocol droid and therefore is fairly proper, L3-37 doesn't mind getting a little rowdy or dirty. It's not shocking that 3PO would find her "peculiar." If only we could actually hear what she said.

The issue with making prequels that were not part of a larger plan at the beginning is that it becomes difficult to create anything new that feels important because it never gets referenced later in the chronology of the story. Here, it appears that writers Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan found a way to work backwards, by taking a line from the original trilogy, one that didn't really require an explanation, and using it to connect to the story they were creating. It works well as far as it goes. The moment in Empire now becomes an easter egg of sorts, the kind that will be completely overlooked by any that aren't aware of the connection, but that can be fun for the fans that know what it means.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is guilty of giving us a lot of answers to questions that most people never asked, but with the possible exception of feeling a need to explain the title character's name, most of the answers were handled well enough. Fans of L3-37 will now think of her whenever they watch the original trilogy, as they wonder just what she's telling C-3PO, probably that he doesn't need to serve these people.

The Unexpected Marvel Superhero Movie That Simon Pegg Wants To Bring To The MCU

Simon Pegg's career if full of roles in many different blockbusters and geekier film properties. From Mission: Impossible to Stark Trek to Star Wars to Ready Player One, Simon Pegg is everywhere. But one glaring gap in his resume is that he has never done a superhero film. But that doesn't mean he isn't interested. There's one Marvel character in particular, one who doesn't have a lot of people calling for his cinematic debut, that Simon Pegg would like to bring to the MCU: Captain Britain. The actor explained his desire to play Brian Braddock (or another character), saying:

I mean, Captain Britain was this Marvel superhero that I loved growing up, 'cause he was the British member of that community. I even have a Captain Britain mask when I was a kid, but I fear I would probably be slightly too old now, but if they do have... If a Captain Britain movie comes about, they're gonna need a British cast, so I'll be waiting.

It is totally understandable that Simon Pegg would want to play Captain Britain, given his nationality and attachment to the character. The superheroes and fictional characters we connect with as kids generally stay with us for the long haul. Although Brits are currently portraying American superheroes like Superman and Daredevil, it would certainly be appropriate for a character named Captain Britain to be portrayed by an actor like Simon Pegg.

As Simon Pegg notes in speaking with JoBlo, he might be too old for the role now. Given the long contracts on these superhero movies, studios do tend to shoot for younger actors, but you can never say never with Marvel. And even if he was too old to play Captain Britain, that doesn't mean that Simon Pegg couldn't be involved in bringing the character to life in the MCU. Simon Pegg is an accomplished writer, having been one of the writers on Star Trek: Beyond and Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy, including The World's End. He certainly understands humor, which is a huge part of Marvel's secret. One could imagine he could bring something truly unique to the table with a Captain Britain film.

For those unfamiliar with the character and fear he may just be a British Captain America, that's not entirely the case. The hero, clad in the British Lion or a Union Jack Costume, is not a super soldier like Cap, but was actually a scholar named Brian Braddock. His powers are derived from magic he received from Merlyn, allowing him to fly and have all the usual powers like superhuman strength and speed. Captain Britain actually has ties to the X-Men and is the brother of Betsy Braddock (Psylocke) and the leader of the European X-Men/Avengers-esque group Excalibur.

A couple years back there seemed to be a possibility that Captain Britain could be getting his own TV show. While that never came to fruition, the beauty of the current MCU is that it is full of possibility. Captain Britain may seem like an obscure character that people won't get behind, but the once dorky Captain America is now the heart of the films and the hyper-weird Guardians of the Galaxy are fan favorites. With Phase 3 ending next year I imagine that the original Avengers will be either dying or having diminished roles moving forward. This would allow for second-tier characters to step up and other new characters to come in, so why not Captain Britain?

I would really love to see what Simon Pegg would do with a superhero movie, in front of or behind the camera so hopefully we'll see it before long. Warning: The following contains major SPOILERS for 2018's Halloween!

David Gordon Green's Halloween rebootquel ends with the three generations of Strode women locking Michael Myers in Laurie's basement and burning the house down. Although the ending does leave some ambiguity about Michael's ultimate fate, it is still a moment of triumph and about as happy an ending as you'll get in a horror film. It is also a far cry from the much darker ending in the film's early script, which would have seen the death of Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode.

Like in the final film, the climax of the early script by David Gordon Green, Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley also took place at Laurie's house, according to Bloody Disgusting. In it, Karen (named Jamie in the early script) and Allyson are hiding under the bed upstairs as Laurie is emptying her shotgun into Michael who, as he always does, keeps getting back up. When Laurie runs out of shells, she runs out of the room, leaving her daughter and granddaughter under the bed.

Michael Myers then pursues Laurie to another room where she appears to be hiding in the closet, just like she did in the original 1978 Halloween, only this time it's a ruse and Laurie isn't in there. When Michael continues looking for her in the hall, Laurie jumps out and stabs him with a screwdriver. This would have begun their final confrontation.

As Laurie stabs Michael over and over again with the screwdriver, Karen and Allyson climb out of the window and see the fight going on from outside. Michael drops his knife and grabs Laurie by the throat and lifts her off the ground. And as she stabs him one final time in the neck, Michael drops her, lifeless to the floor.

At that point, Karen would have went into the house and pushed Michael out of the window, only for him to escape into the night, just like in the original film. Then Allyson and Karen would go to Jamie Lee Curtis' matriarch to confirm that she is in fact dead.

The original screenplay also had a different beginning that would have been a prologue that recreated the ending of the 1978 film. This ending where Laurie dies would have paired with that beginning, echoing a few moments from it and bringing the film full circle.

Having Laurie Strode die is obviously a completely different ending than the one we got in Halloween, and it actually may have been more along the lines of what people were expecting considering that this film was pitched as the final confrontation between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers.

You can see why the inclination was to kill Laurie too, since the film introduces her daughter and granddaughter, who can continue the fight and keep the franchise going. Killing Laurie would have definitely made for a much darker ending and one that would have left audiences feeling very different as they exited the theater. It's tough to say whether or not keeping Laurie Strode alive was the right story decision. I think it probably depends on what happens next in the Halloween franchise.

Personally, I like the triumphant ending to the final film. Parts of the original ending feel a little bit too close to John Carpenter's 1978 film, especially with the same ending of Michael Myers getting up after being pushed out a window. We already get that callback with Laurie in the new film, so the reference is still there, but the ending is new and different. I think if Michael had clearly gotten away, it would have seemed a bit too focused on setting up a sequel versus the mild ambiguity the final film leaves you with.
